Versatile Blogger Awards

Thank you, Shady Dell Knight of Shady Dell Music and Memories for nominating me for the Versatile Blogger Award!  Shady is my bestest bloggin' buddy, a virtual blogapedia of conversation and insight.  Danke, SDK.

I've got to try something different today - I don't want to be the uncool blogger (who yelled "too late" just a second ago??).

New to this blog award process, I had to check out the protocol. Apparently, I'm supposed to tell you seven things about me. Perhaps this is good, since nothing on my blog every says anything about me (not).  Well, here goes:

  1. I'm critter crazy, but I only have a dog now (I have had - and shown in competition - chickens, Nigerian dwarf goats, a miniature donkey....you get the picture...nuts about critters).
  2. I have offspring. They're awesomely anonymous.
  3. All the silly cartoons on my blog (except today's pic!) are drawn by yours truly, proving I can be bleh at multiple things at once.
  4. Born in WV...oh, you know you're jealous, cousin.
  5. My son thinks it's cool that I went to Bruce Springsteen's house in New Jersey (I just asked him to tell me a fact about his mom).
  6. Now he is adding, "you met the Monkees...ALL the Monkees..."    Nerd boy.  Love him.
  7. All my stories are true.  Basically.  Minus the alias and name changes to protect the innocent (most are totally guilty, though...).
Now, let me pass along a few nominations of my own for Versatile Blogger Award;  check 'em out:
  1. Sanitaryum  Committed to clean humor - hurrah!
  2. Three Kids and We    A great blog about a dear friend and her children
  3. My Morning Cup of Coffee   Pour me a cup, I've got a rant, too.
  4. In the Crazy Life   Not all that crazy, really.  Cute.
  5. Good Clean Reads   Why didn't someone think of this sooner?
  6. A Gut and a Butt   Betty does Betty...60 is the new 29.
  7. Le Tejana   I love a good short tale.  You need the new and improved award icon, ha ha.
Visit the Versatile Blogger site for rules, nominees!  Choose your button and display it with pride!

Have a good weekend, stay out of trouble and I'll see you on Monday!

  1. Congratulations, dear Cherdo! As I noted in a previous post it was the best kind of accident when I recently stumbled upon your blog, (barked my shins), fell for your writing style and humor and cracked a smile. In no time at all we were bantering like best buddies. I am very excited to have you as a new friend, Cherdo.

I'm pleased to know you are a critter lover. My favorite critters are black rat snakes, palmetto bugs and great big ole woolly spiders. :) (...and Junebugs)

What an interesting fact that you showed those exotic animals in competition! On a lark, I once went out and bought a miniature donkey as a pet. Mrs. Shady ordered me to get my ass out of the house! :)

One of the things I most admire about your blog is your cartoons. Cherdo's Got Talent!

At one time Mrs. Shady lived in Martinsburg, West Virginia. It's a small world after all.

You hung out with The Boss???
    You dated Davy Jones???
You were a roadie for Ozzy Osbourne???
    You were "The 5th Beatle"???

Seems like you've had a few brushes with greatness!

Cherdo, I love coming here and playing with you. No one deserves The Versatile Blogger Award more than you, dear friend. Enjoy!

  2. Long ago, in a galaxy far away, I would do anything to get a laugh (including walking down The Boss's driveway and threatening to knock on his door). That might be a later post...

When I was crazy for concerts, autograph seeking behavior followed. Then you get older and just tired of waiting around, ha ha. My older sons are now grown, one is married, and they were never impressed with my antics - but my younger son is! Who knew?

The Boss wasn't home when I visited. Davy was attached. I wish I could say I handed Ozzy the bat he bit, now that would be a good story - especially the part where everyone got to see my lunch reappear. Lastly, if the Beatles wanted a fifth member, I'd volunteer but I would have had to balance that with my elementary school duties, such as studying spelling words, crayon art, etc. Career choices...

Shady, I'm grateful for you, as always! Fun, fun, fun. Have a good weekend!

  3. Congratulations and a hearty thanks! I enjoyed reading your facts and I am glad to know your blog now, too. I don't have that many interesting things about me, but I will try to come up with some when I return from my blog break!

  4. Congrats on your award and a humble thank you for sending one my way! I loved reading your fact list. You definitely need to write a blog about The Boss and The Monkeys. I will get to work on making this award official as soon as I can, meaning...this evening after the kids are in bed.

  5. Why did you go to Bruce's house? What did The Monkees say? I want details. Sex in a hot tub with Bruce? Orgy with Monkees?

    Love,
    Janie
