Bagged and Tagged: Bloggers Beach Party

One of my favorite cartoons to draw involves paper bag puppets with personalities, oblivious of the hand in the bag. In the spirit of creative control freakism, I declare Wednesday is Bagged and Tagged Day. My refusal to use the term "hump day" more that once a year is partially to blame.

Interesting, fun friendships have been discovered in the Blog-o-sphere, and I'm just thrilled to share stories and bad jokes with my blogpals. I have no shame. If you're a regular visitor, fan who stuck their head out of the gopher hole or commentor, don't be surprised to find yourself bagged (i.e., turned into a paper bag puppet a la Cherdo).  It's a Flipster badge of honor.

This week, I welcome Shady Dell Knight and Janie Junebug to the Blogger's Beach Party. These friendly Floridians have provided many, many laughs over the past months and I'm just tickled pink that they continue to stop by. Follow the links and check out their blogs!

You've been bagged and tagged, Shady and Janie.

  2. FALSE DEPICTION ALERT!
I am a lot more muscular than that!

Hello and good morning, dear Cherdo! This is a wonderful Wednesday surprise, sweetie pie. Seeing what you did here and feeling the loving intention behind it brought tears to my eyes. I know you will agree with me when I say that friendships like ours don't come along very often. I am proud to be wearing this bag of honor and I feel lucky to have bagged a couple of great friends like you and Janie. I'm sure you can understand how good it feels for me to have a place like your blog, The Flipside, or Janie's WOMEN: WE'RE GONNA KICK SOME ASS TODAY, where I always feel welcome and free. When I come to your "house" or Janie's I know that I can relax, have fun and be myself (or jump into character as Shady or Shecky). The three of us are a match made in blog heaven because we don't take ourselves or life too seriously. Like three neighborhood kids playing in the basement, we tease, joke, laugh and even get a little mischievous and naughty at times. The nice part about it is there are no grouchy grown-ups around to kill our buzz by hollering at us to keep the noise down and stop having so doggone much fun. It's the same type of environment I encountered all those years ago at the Shady Dell, my home away from home. Thank you, dear friend Cherdo and thank you, dear friend Janie, for accepting me unconditionally as a friend and giving me a safe and comfortable place to hang out. I am pleased as punch to have you as my twin Gidgets and to be your Moondoggie. Bless you both!

    1. You gotta have fun, right? We can't take ourselves too seriously, ha ha. Between Janie's post about the pool and the flavor of Shady Dell Music and Memories, a beach party seemed the only way to go. I hate it that Frankie and Annette couldn't make it.

My bag lady needs glasses...I'm blind without them.

Have a good day, SDK! God bless.

You and Janie are great commentors. My Hubzam will read one and say, "Hey, Shady posted a comment! You have to answer!" Like I wouldn't?

  4. I was shocked when I saw the cartoon, and then I did my scream-with-laughter thing that makes the dogs come running to see what's wrong with Mom. That is so adorable I can hardly stand it. Thank you very much. The "pale stump" is appropriate for me because I bear a strong resemblance to Caspar the Friendly Ghost. When I see a comment from Shady, no matter where it is, I read it because he always makes me laugh, as do YOU! I love it that we are Moondoggie's twin Gidgets. Let's surf. Life's a beach! I don't know if we're three neighborhood kids playing in the basement, or if we're three neighborhood teenagers enjoying a doobie in the basement. Shame on us. I love these blogger friendships. Some day I just know Shecky Shady will make his way to Jacksonville. I'll hop in his hot road and off we'll go to visit our favorite Cherdo.

    Love,
    Janie

I think the word you're looking for is ROD, baby - YEAH!

    2. I'm glad you liked it, Janie! I've got a Caspar tan, also!

As official Gidgets, we just have to dance and spin 45s - I'm more of your kids playing in the basement kind of gal. Don't you try to talk me into some teenager shenanigans...I gotta keep my nose clean. Clean is my shtick.

It's easy to invite you to the house, but how many friends invite you to be a cartoon, ha ha? I like to take anything negative and put a spin on it. Now I smile every time someone says "old bag." I know bags of all ages, and most are pretty funny.

      Love ya!

    3. Oh, my. I can't believe I wrote hot road. And Love, Janie is there twice. Well, two Love, Janies is always better than one. I won't be smoking anything in or out of a basement, but we can dance to the 45s. I know! Let's do The Swim!
