Very Inspiring Blogger Award

Thank you so much, Chrys Fey, for nominating me for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award. It's always a thrill, but especially to receive a nod from Chrys Fey! She had a wonderful blog called Write with Fey. If you are a writer, want to be a writer or care about how you write - Chrys' blog is a must. Go visit it right now. I'll wait...I said go!  Sheesh, some people have to be told twice.

The Rules for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award:

1. Thank the person who nominated you, and link to their blog.

2. Display the award logo.

3. Nominate 15 other bloggers (more or less) and provide a link where they may be found.

4. Go to their blog, leave a comment to let them know they have been nominated.

5. Mention three things that inspired you the most during the past few weeks.

Three Things that Inspired Me Recently:

1. This video...two animals, just enjoying each other. Life should always be so simple.

2. Several of my friends have been going through illness - either themselves or their families. I'm not talking about minor setbacks, but major life changing events. While reading an update from one of them, I realized that I have a beautiful bunch of pals that can bear anything with dignity and grace. I hope their own families see that in them and are as inspired as I am.

3. My mom inspires me with her get up and go at 75. Everyday, she gets up and go-go-goes. Dancing, cooking, crafts, sewing and Olympic class shopping (she never stops). Who could imagine that it would be hard to find her at home? I love that about her.

My peeps that I am nominating - and why!:

1. Shady Dell Knight from Shady Dell Music & Memories  His blog continues to honor a couple who opened their York, PA, home to youth of the community and to celebrate music. Shady is also the best friend a blogger ever had who inspires by his consistency. He's the real deal.
2. Janie Junebug from WOMEN: WE SHALL OVERCOME  Jane is my peep and she inspires me with her girl power (and dern it, she is funny). It doesn't hurt that she is the Queen of Grammar.
3. The Armchair Squid  Movies, books...Star Trek! The Squid is on a roll in his quest for fulfillment. Go, Squid, go.
4. STMcC Presents Battle of the Bands  Always the wild card in the room, ladies and gentlemen, Stephen T. McCarthy's battle of the bands are unique pairings and always fun.
5. Linda's Peaceful Place   Linda's got a little bit of everything - and it's all good.
6. Pam at Go Retro!  Looking backward at pop culture was never better than Pam's blog.
7. Diana Wilder...about myself, by myself   A talent writer and lovely blog!
8. MICHAEL DI GESU... ... ... In time...   Reading Michael's blog makes me wish he was my neighbor. He seems like a great person to have drop by for coffee and chat as he tells about his new adventures. I'd just brew and listen. :-)
9. A Beer for the Shower  The guys are going to make me bust a gut laughing and then I'll have to send them medical bills.
10. BB Creations  Birgit is funny and creative. I rarely ask for more in my friends - I think that rounds it out nicely.
11. Michael D'Agostino at A Life Examined  Michael and his pals make me wish I lived in Adelaide. It's inspiring to see a young person living out loud and trying new things.
12. Elizabeth Seckman, Author   Ohio to WV...Marshall University...you had me at "Elizabeth."
13. Maurice Mitchell at Film Sketchr  Want to see the most boring Cherdo comments? Go to Maurice's blog. His art and interviews are just fantastic and I find myself posting the shortest comments I ever do - and most of them are just fawning over the wonderful art. His blog leaves me speechless (that's hard to do with me).
14. Geo. at Invalid's Workshop This poet's pilgrimage will inspire you, too. I just love Geo.
15. Rick Watson at Life 101  This Alabama boy writes about life in a way that will make you smile.

Thank you all for inspiring! If you didn't make the list this time, it's only because I was limited to fifteen. I don't even read blog that don't inspire me!

Everyone have a great weekend!

  1. Hi Cherdo,

I thank you so much for thinking of me and considering me for an award! I must graciously decline, as for myself, just having wonderful people like yourself visit and make such nice comments on my blog posts is reward enough for me. I hope you understand.

I am very happy that you have been given an award, though, and I think it is well deserved. :)

  5. Good morning, dear Cherdo!

Congratulations to you on receiving the Very Inspiring Blogger Award from author Chrys Fey. Chris knows how to pick a winner. By the same token I am deeply touched, honored and grateful to you for including me in this elite group of nominees for the award. Thank you very much, dear friend!

The dog and dolphin video reminds us that two seemingly incompatible creatures can learn to peacefully coexist on this planet. Moreover, if they give it a chance, they might discover that they have a lot more in common than first thought, grow to love each other, play and have fun together. That is the philosophy I am trying to promote at SDMM and it is what's most important to me in my life.

Thank you again for acknowledging me, dear friend Cherdo, Have a splendid Friday and a safe and happy weekend!

    1. You and I are on the same page with the dolphin video. There's always common ground. The problem is that people like to look for differences, rather than commonalities.

Always your buddy, and grateful for your friendship. Have a great weekend!

  10. >>... Always the wild card in the room

    Ha!-Ha!
Is that something like "the King of Jokers"?
    Or "the Queen of Aces"?
    (Wait! That doesn't sound right...
not that there's anything wrong with it!)

I figured for sure that S-4 would always be the Wild Card in the room. (Eat yer heart out, Shaft!)

    CHERDO, thanks for the honor!
Now you know I'll be gunnin' for Shaft, Janie 'n' Squid.

    That video was really GREAT!

I can just hear that Dolphin thinkin' now:
"Dang dog can't do nuttin' but paddle".

OK, I'm off to see what else I can find in this deck.

    1. In life, you always need a friend who is not totally predictable. It makes it interesting.

"...nuttin' but paddle." Ha ha ha. Maybe the dog can teach the dolphin to indicate when Timmy falls in the well.

      Have a good weekend!

    2. HA!
      GREAT comeback, Cherdo!

      Like I wrote on July 4th, 2012:
Consarn it all, 'Tippy, The Wonder Dog' rules forever!

Speaking of a "VERY INSPIRING BLOGGER", your reply caused me to go back looking for that on my defunct 'Ferret-Faced Fascist Friends' blog. So I ended up reading the blog bit for the first time since I posted it and... consarn it! That was one of my best!

Now I'm gonna have to go and add it to my 'BEST O' BLOG?' links. You done made mo' work for me, consarn it all! (But thanks, 'cause that was some patriotic stuffs I posted there and I all but forgotted about it all.)

You're right, I am unpredictable, 'cause even I don't know what I'll do or say next. Oooh! Seat-Of-The-Pants and Edge-Of-The-Chair livin'! Gotta dig it.

    3. I do dig it! I'm working on the flipside o' fifty - I need unpredictable and fun surprises, and I like to hear a variety of opinions. It keeps me on my toes.

Ouch...I just stepped on my own toes.

F4 had some funny stuff, insightful stuff and a touch of insanity. Perfect recipe.

  11. Thank you for the award! That's very kind of you to pass it along our way. Do we each get one or do we have to fight like children over the one?

And with the state of health care as it is, the only thing we can afford to give you is a half used bottle of store brand aspirin and a slightly ripped Spongebob Squarepants band aid. So try not to literally bust a gut, okay?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That aspirin will thin my blood, so I will try not to explode.

My initial thought was that you both get one, but if you'll film yourselves wrestling over it and I almost guarantee you a featured spot on my blog, the minute I get it. :-)

  12. Aw thanks for the award. That makes my afternoon :)

My grandma had the same sort of life attitude as your mom. She lived independently into her 90's (she mowed her own lawn until her 80's). I hope I have her genes and attitude!

  13. I'm sorry to hear about all the illnesses, and I think handling things with dignity and grace is the true measure of a person. Your mom sounds like fun! I hope I'm that energetic at 75. (Of course, I'm not even that energetic now...) Have a lovely weekend. :)

  15. Very nice post, and you passed the award on to a bunch of terrific bloggers. It's kinda nice to start seeing these blog awards pop up again, isn't it? Have you noticed? There used to be so many of them being passed around, I think people were getting burned out on them.. and then nothing. Now this award is starting to show up again. In fact, I just received it from a blogger in Bhutan... only it's different. Instead of listing three sources of inspiration, like you did, I'm supposed to tell seven things about myself. (I'll be posting that one next Friday.)

Anyhow, congratulations on the award! I hope you have a super weekend.

    1. I like them, too - I know some people don't like them, but I don't mind. We're adults. If you don't want to do it, just say "thanks" and go on. It's not like there is a grade on your completion. Adults should find as many ways to play and have fun as possible. This is one of them.

  16. I love your list of inspirations--they are very meaningful. Great video, too. :) Congrats on the award.
