It's Friday and time to Celebrate the Small Things. Welcome to our wonderful oasis of mini-celebrations. A big thanks to the new host, Lexa Cain, and her wonderful co-hosts:
L.G. Keltner @ Writing Off The Edge Katie @ TheCyborgMom.
What's on the celebration list today?
- Shady Dell Knight returns from his road quest! It's just not the same without a little SDK. It's so...Shady-less.
- Well, I've already told you about Gonzo's driver's license and the excitement it produced at Case de los Cherdo. I've noticed that young man has a look of satisfaction pasted on his face. Why can't we retain that kind of joy as adults? If we could, I'd be walking around with a smile for every little accomplishment.
- My daughter-in-law, AC, is just the best thing in the waking world. If you are ever in the position to be a mother-in-law to someone, you couldn't do better than AC. I just love her. We've been working on jewelry projects and she rocks at it.
- Magoo's longtime girlfriend, LB, is also joining our little crafty venture - once again, she is fantastic at it and very talented with polymers (also a love of mine). Love her, too! There's a pattern here - I must brag that I'm pretty fortunate in the extended family department.
- Started two new books this week (I'm optimistic about the amount of time I can spend on them!)
- This weekend is my birthday, and I'd be hardpressed to think of anything I want - or don't have. That's a perfect celebration!
Everyone have a great weekend - keep warm and safe.
[Oops! Forgot the code - sorry! Better late than never!] Join us in the celebration!
I'm expecting a great weekend--the 6th is our 60th anniversary!!
ReplyDeleteYay! Happy Anniversary, Fran!
DeleteHAPPY ANNIVERSARY, FISHDUCKY AND BUD!

On the way the paper bag was on my knee
Man I had a dreadful flight
I'm back in the U.S.S.R.
Hello and good morning, dear Cherdo!
I missed you and I'm very happy to be back from my two day trip. Thank you for commenting on my latest post. I will reply later this morning as soon as I make the rounds and catch up on the blogs of my friends. As always, yours is my first stop of the morning.
OLD BUSINESS:
I feel uncomfortable correcting you in front of your readers, dear friend, but I need to point out a mistake that I found in yesterday's post, Throwback Thursday. You stated that the woman in the picture was you, Cherdo, circa 1980. As anyone can plainly see, you accidentally posted a picture of the ravishingly beautiful actress Rose McGowan posing for a publicity still on the set of her new movie, a remake of Attack of the 50 Foot Woman. Can you please revise the copy to correct your error?
I also want to congratulate Gonzo on getting his driver's license. When will Coco be old enough to get hers?
NEW BUSINESS:
On your third item today I agree that AC is good to have around... especially on those sweltering days of summer. She sounds cool.
(BA-DUM-BUMP)
Addressing your 4th item today, I was once all wrapped up in Polythene Pam... even though I could see right through her.
(BA-DUM-BUMP)
Regarding your 5th item today, I also started two new books this week: If I Ran the Zoo and Fox in Socks. The latter turned out not to be the Dr. Suess book I thought I had purchased but, let me assure you, it's a keeper.
(YOU KNOW THE DRILL)
Cherdo Cherdo Cherdo, let me be one of the first to wish you a happy birthday. You are a gift to us all and I hope you have a marvelous celebration. It's not every day that a girl turns 21. Please drink and vote responsibly. :)
(HIT IT, SAMMY!)
Shady returns with a bang! Yay! You were missed and mourned.
DeleteYou know what I like...rampant Beatle references...keep 'em coming...
If I looked like Rose McGowan then (thank you, you're too kind, and you need a yearly vision check dear), just imagine the horror she would experience to see flipside Rose, ha ha. Let's not stress her in that way...
If I were a little more on the ball, I would have come up with flattering false names for my DIL and, in all likelihood, future DIL. The fact that I am actually taking time to think of one is a compliment to them both.
Seuss is a doctor; never forget that...
Thanks for the birthday wish, but actually, I'm 29 and very practiced at it. I've done it 27 times.
Back in the CherdoRR, boys. You don't know how lucky you are, boys. Back in the CherdoRARRRGH. (RR is rest and relaxation for pirates, right?) Those Jacksonville girls really knock you out. They leave Tennessee behind. And Murray Hill girls makes me scream and shout, and Royal Avenue's always on mymy my my my mind.
DeleteI don't understand a word of what Janie wrote but, dag nab it, I'm takin' her home to meet mama!
DeleteHappy, happy birthday. Have many more!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Marilyn! Glad to see you drop by the flipside, girl. ;-)
DeleteThose are great celebrations! Happy Birthday and have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much! Thanks for dropping by! ;-)
DeleteCherdo - you crack me up. Your sense of humor and total joy of life make it all fun! I'm glad you do this bloghop.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday > blow out the little candles > iiiiiii > hope that was enough?
Thanks, you are too sweet. I'm having fun with it and my fun commentators are a big part of it.
DeleteHappy Birthday Ms. Aquarian! Wishing you a fabulous weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Birgit - I'm still laughing about the "wedding." LOL.
DeleteSounds like you have a fab family. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDelete;-) I'm pretty blessed in that department. Take care!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday!! I hope you have a wonderful day - and get lots of presents!
ReplyDeleteIt's always great to get along with extended family. It sounds as though you're very blessed with yours. Good luck with the jewelry project. :)
Thank you, Lexa! Have a great weekend, girl!
DeleteHappy Birthday, Cherdo!
ReplyDeleteYou're very lucky to have a daughter-in-law you love and she's very lucky to have you for a mother-in-law.
I saw that you like Napoleon Dynamite. My husband used to be office mates with the actor Jon Heder's twin brother Dan. Dan told my husband that people used to come up to him asking if he was Jon Heder. Dan would say, "No, I'm his twin brother." They didn't believe him and thought he was joking. I thought that was hilarious.
Take care and I hope you have a lovely birthday.
That is hilarious - I told the story about Dan Heder to my son and he thought that was great (he is also a big fan). Thanks for sharing that; we love people stories.
DeleteAnd thanks for the birthday wishes! Hope you have a great week, Kimberly!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! You are so young and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
It's no accident that we are buddies, Janie...it's not just the songs on my cell phone, I swear (I haven't erased them, ha ha. It's like instant Prozac.).
DeleteThank you, dear, and have a great weekend!
Happy Birthday!!! You already have it all, right?! Sounds like a fantastic family!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Catharina! I love the family; they're the best.
DeleteHave a good weekend!
Hope a happy birthday is had at your pad!
ReplyDeleteFor your wishes and such
DeleteThanks - very much!
Happy Birthday, Cherdo!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Pam!!
DeleteA very happy birthday to you! And I don't think I'll ever be in a position to be a mother-in-law, so I'll have to take your word on AC's awesomeness (I do).
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I hope you enjoy your birthday weekend!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a GREAT birthday and did plenty of celebrating.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday!!!
ReplyDeleteYay!
