...cried the young man... |
Gonzo is threatening to start his own blog over the "O" choice (the Outfield).
Gonzo Quote: "I was thinking you'd do it because you're so into the Beatles...they sorta sound like the Beatles."
Who did he think should get it? Ironically, another big favorite of mine. I love Oasis - love, love, love them. In the end, you can only chose one (that is why I also have to apologize to The Cure, Elvis Costello, Klaatu, The Rutles, Spinal Tap, The Cranberries, Clanad, local boy wonder Erick Baker, Pat Benatar, Aimee Mann, Aerosmith, Gerry & the Pacemakers, Counting Crows, the BeeGees...I think you "get it").
Kids; whaddya gonna do? And after all....
Hey, don't forget my personal faves... Disco Tex and his Sex-O-Lettes!
ReplyDeleteYou're a spring chicken, Cherdo. If you never heard that expression before, it's because you're a spring chicken. I, on the other hand, am old. If I was doing the A to Z challenge, when I got to the O music act I would have picked The Outsiders, best known for their 1966 top 5 hit "Time Won't Let Me." Ever hear of 1966??? :)
I almost put the Andrews Sisters in...I can't be pigeonholed. LOL.
DeleteI like Wonderwall.
ReplyDeleteHow can we not?
DeleteI like Wonderwall!
ReplyDelete'Cause it's awesome!
DeleteHOKEY-SMOKE! Good Friend Cherdo, are you saying that "S" isn't going to be for "Spinal Tap"?! Sheesh!
ReplyDelete"S is for: Sheesh! Where's Spinal Tap?"
Fine! Play your amplifiers at lowly ten - see if I care.
Well, I'll tell ya what, when we get to "Y" and "Z", if Y isn't for the great Yoey O'Dogherty And His Corn Liquor Boys, and Z isn't for Zevon, Warren... then... then... then I ain't gonna read the rest of your 2015 "A To Z" posts. I ain't kiddin', GFC. I'm warnin' ya, don't test me on this!

Well, you'll be pleased that Warren is on the list..."Keep Me In Your Heart for Awhile" is one of my all time favorites. Only he isn't Z!!! Ah, snap! Didn't see that one coming!
DeleteYou're making go song hunting. I knew his voice but not being a name or word person I couldn't think of the song that they do that I liked. Off to the Youtubes. Champagne Supernova is found. Never knew the name of the song.
ReplyDeleteWhich group is better? Outfield - Oasis.... Tie.
You're good people, Mike. :-)
DeleteI have a few fav band and songs but most are from the 80s. Working professionally in the industry sort of sucked all the fun out of it for me in the past 15 yrs. But I'm glad you're still so young at heart!
ReplyDeleteOkay, now I need more information about working in the industry - in what capacity? Watch this be something everyone knows but me.
DeleteThanks, Lexa!!
I used this song in one of my Battle of the Bands. Ryan Adams (not Bryan Adams) recorded a much slower, more acoustic sounding version of this song. I think you'll like it.
ReplyDeleteI've got to go back through your battles. I'm missing out; I was late to the game.
DeleteI like Oasis. In addition to enjoying their music, they amuse me. When they speak, I can't understand a word they say. Maybe they're from northern England or they're Scottish. Strangely, I understand every word they sing. I usually come up with all sorts of strange lyrics for songs because I misunderstand the words. X took The Hurricane to see Oasis the summer after her freshman year in college. A year or two later, Favorite Young Man came to visit us in Illinois. He saw Oasis buying pretzels in the Chicago airport. We lead such fascinating lives--except for me. I think Oasis broke up and got back together for a while and have broken up again.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Oh, and YOU are my wonderwall, Cherdo.
DeleteYup, the two brothers kept getting in fights and throwing stuff at one another. Hard to play a concert when you've thrown your instrument at your brother. I watched The History of the Eagles on Netflix Streaming. The final argument that led to their hiatus of fourteen years made me laugh so hard. I cannot recount it here because of naughty, naughty words. I suppose most people would be bothered by such an argument, but I--I always have to be different. It was hilarious.
DeleteThe Oasis tiffs are legendary and yes, they make me laugh - I don't know why.
DeleteYou're too sweet, Janie. I'm going to go through all the Beatle songs till you get a new cell phone number...of course, I will customized the lyrics to Janie-fy them.
Oh Oasis how I lurve them even when they said things like "we are bigger than the Beatles" or something like that. And the fights oh my goodness the fights.
ReplyDeleteI have used Wonderwall a few time son my blog.
cheers, parsnip
If you are talented enough, I can forgive a Beatle comparison....ONCE.
DeleteNever been a big Oasis fan... there are some I kinda like, and some I kinda don't like, but none I love or hate. Plus, my mind is beginning to mix them with the Goo-Goo Dolls for some reason I don't understand.
ReplyDeleteAnd still...I like you.
DeleteI can totally see the Goo-Goo Doll mix up, come to think of it. I'm thinking of that one black and white video....
I like this song quite a bit and love your different choices instead of the popular ones:)
ReplyDeleteAll they have to be is popular with ME. That is the requirement, ha ha. Thanks, Birgit!

ReplyDeleteBut I love you anyway, Michael. ;-)
