BOTB Results: "Take Me to the River"

It's that time again! And the winner of the "Take Me to the River" battle is...oh, wait...it's on that sign. Sigh. Surprise ruined.

But here's one thing you DIDN'T know: if I would have voted, Annie would have gotten my vote, too. Though I've long been a fan of David Byrne and Talking Heads...well, Annie just gave it that extra sumptin' sumptin'. Her vocals have always been so clean and powerful; she has that blue-eyed soul in a unique package. She's one of a kind and Al Green would be proud of her take on it, I think.

Sing us away, Annie!

DON'T FORGET!  The Battle of the Band occurs on the 1st and 15th with battle results posted on the 7th and 21st of the month.

A big thanks to Stephen T. McCarthy and Far Away Eyes for the genius behind the Battle of the Bands. Great idea, STMcC and FAE!

Click on their links (and everyone else's blog link) below.

Hey, are you still here? I appreciate it, but there's more BOTB hosts to visit! Get on it, man (or chick). Just look at those wonderful battle barons below! If I missed a new participant, I'll add you as we go along. Point it out to me...I'm a geezer who needs that backup.

  1. Good morning, dear Cherdo!

YAY!!! The great silent majority of my fellow Americans have spoken and Annie emerged victorious. The heavy voter turnout that ultimately gave Annie the win is especially satisfying given the fact that the weather was bad in key precincts. I'm happy to know that you would have voted for her, too, and for the same reasons I offered.

I'll be announcing the winner of my BOTB on Monday. Have a great weekend and please take good care of yourself and your family, Coco included.

    1. I thought it would be much closer, so this was a pleasant surprise! Even though Talking Heads didn't do this first, I suspected that they would run away with it.

There were several options for "battlers", but I thought that Annie Lennox had the strongest performance. That voice...it's hard to beat.

You having some weather in your neck of the woods (as in bad)? I thought I saw something about that on ye olde television news. Take care, use sunblock, and have a restful weekend, Shady o' Shadus!

    2. Oops! Typo!

  3. I saw the votes rolling in and it became apparent to me that Annie Lennox was going to win, but it really seemed to me that it was going to be a lot closer than it was. I was imagining a 5-vote margin of victory, but 21 to 12 is a blowout.

Oh well, at least it wasn't a shutout or a tie.

    Check for E, Cherdo.

    1. Checked for E...and F, G, H, I...Lordy, let's just get all the vowels and consonants involved. Why exclude any of them, ha ha.

I'm with you - I didn't see that big of a difference on the horizon. A pleasant surprise.
