Celebrate the Small Things

It's Friday and time to Celebrate the Small Things!

Welcome to our wonderful oasis of mini-celebrations.
Hosted by Lexa Cain, and her wonderful co-hosts:

It feels wrong to go weeks without celebrating the small stuff!

Let's  do this:

1. After a week of EVERYONE being sick, we all turned the corner -- or about 85% of the corner.  Whew! That was rough because...
2. We've been working like mad men to get out house on the market. The rates are low and the spirit is willing...
3. Fortunately, we both want the same thing in a house. We've been sitting around discussing the list of "must haves" for years.
4. The flowers in my garden are an explosion of orange (that keeps on coming!).  It's awesome and I'll have a steady supply of "cut flowers" to display for next few weeks. Yay!
5. First two weeks of classes with the homeschool kids are better than ever. That's kids AND classes.
6. Thank God for stamina.

Everybody have a great weekend!

  1. So happy to hear you are feeling better, especially with school starting.
You are so right, it is Friday and we all need to celebrate the small things.

  2. It's a great time to sell because it's a great time to buy. Thank you, Lord, for low interest rates. I'm glad you feel better.

    1. Everyone thought I had the creeping crud or something when I spoke, so the last thing I wanted to do was teach today's class with THAT voice.

      Have a good weekend, Janie-poo.

  3. Enjoy those flowers before you move. Hope the house sells quickly. (But not before you find a place to go!)

    1. We are waiting just a little bit (2 weeks) to list it. I've had some people just hand me business cards in the past and say they'd like to buy my place. Gotta connect with those people first!

  5. Good morning, dear Cherdo!

House hunting? Boy girl... do I have just the place for you! I'm sure you won't mind having Mrs. Shady's sister, her incontinent dog and her scratch-happy cat as roomies. Let me know when you're ready to sign on the dotted line. I'm sure we can work out a payment schedule. :)

I didn't realize so many bloggers were sick this week. If you peeps are all feeling better now then we do indeed have reason to salivate... uh... celebrate. (Sometimes my fingers get tongue tied.)

Have a wonderful weekend, dear friend Cherdo!

    1. Can I get the exact same deal? The tropical family plan? Will you throw in an extra dog or two?

Hey, I've been listing to the weather and I hope you are safe and sound. I believe you are in for a nasty bunch of weather, SDK. Buy extra Margarita mix - you may need it.

Because I know how much you like animals, I'm leaving a voicemail with the animal control people: In event of inclement weather, I'm sure that my good friend, Shady Dell Knight, wouldn't mind taking in stray alligators for a few days. You don't want to get those guys wet and they are sorta scared of hurricanes.

Be safe! Stay dry! Have the best weekend you can manage, SDK!

    2. I'll buy the house for $1. Then I'll kick out the interlopers because they aren't my family. In fact, if they were my family I'd kick them out.

  6. You didn't mention if you have another place to go. So I do hope you have good luck selling the house and aren't left out on the street!

    1. It was kind of flipped around: we were looking casually, then found one we really liked, wanted to get ours on the market QUICK. That may fall through, as we had a contingency for selling ours and they've already gotten other offers. Meh. Still, the plan is to find the perfect one-level...

  7. Hopefully the house doesn't take forever to sell and you find a new great place to dwell

  8. Sickness is never fun but especially in the summer. You have a lot on your plate from moving, to a new school year. Even good stresses are still stresses which can bring on a cold. Enjoy your flowers and maybe we will see a pic or 2?:)

    1. Yes, ma'am! I'll have to put an updated flower watch. I think allergies fueled a lot of our recent bout of yucky-ness.

  9. So glad you're feeling better! Being sick sucks. Orange is my favorite color ever. I would smile everyday if I had an explosion of orange to look at. Enjoy the flowers while you can and best of luck on your move. Yep, I said move because its going to happen. I have a good feeling about this!

    1. Oh, a move will happen, I think...but it might not be the house I showed you. We love our current place, so we don't feel pressured. But the rates are low and we want one level (and we have much more than we need). I'd go "tiny house" if I could. But I can't, ha ha.

  10. For the first time in several weeks, I feel that, last night, I got a decent amount of sleep. Good sleep I can celebrate big time!

    1. Everyone I know seems to have kids sick: upper respiratory, sinus, etc. Same thing we had. Also, we're seeing lots of strep throat here. Keep them well, Sherry!

  13. Houses go pretty quick in the St. Louis area these days. People are getting asking price if the house is priced correctly.

  16. I'm glad to hear your family's better, and that you're succeeding with the classes and homeschool kids. So exciting that your house is on the market! I think the flowers will help - I know they'd make a difference to me if I were house-hunting. Good luck and thank you so much for making a Celebrate post!! :)

    1. Lexa, I love the Celebrate posts - sorry I'm not able to do every single one but I want to be on the list and visit others.

Hope you're having a great weekend.

  17. Good luck with your moving plans. I've always loved looking at model homes, and daydreaming about living in them, but all I have to do is think about packing all the stuff we've accumulated in the past 44 years of living in this house to make me decide I'm happy right where I am. Luckily, our so-called "starter home" is a a great retirement home, too. :)

Have a super weekend. I hope y'all are feeling well again.

  19. You probably know I went through all of that in April/May/June. We found a house, then put ours on the market after we moved, which was nice. Our house payment was ridiculously low on the old house so we could swing it with a little extra money we set aside. Moving sucked, but looking for a house was fun! Getting the old house ready to sell was a lot of work, but you're right--it's a great market. We had 8 offers in the first 48 hours and took one that was $5,000 above our asking price (plus it was cash!). The hardest part, or so it seems, was getting everything switched over and dealing with the cable company. I told my husband I'm never moving again based on that alone!

  23. I hate when everyone's sick. A whole houseful of drowsy, sniffly people is just constant misery. Feels like you're stewing in a pool of germs. Good luck with the house!
