Wow! Not even close and I had my doubts for a minute there. Well, peeps, I would have voted the same way even though I liked all of the versions of Justin Timberlake's "Mirrors."
If I could go off the rails for a minute, I like Boyce Avenue in general. Fifth Harmony is great but Boyce Avenue didn't need them to make this a good cover.
Lots of bands do covers - the internet is a boiling cauldron of amateurs of all skill level and an equal amount of actual working bands. For me, doing a cover is tricky. A musician has to be brave. The fan base of the original version will only go so far (hey, they've made their decision about who they like, right?).
Boyce Avenue does a whole lotta covers and they do a good job of putting a bit of their own special polish on the tune. I'm really a fan of the group. Get your YouTube on and check out more of their covers.
Congrats, Boyce Avenue & Fifth Harmony!
Now, sing us out!!
Now, follow up with the whole gang! Great battles were going on -
did you miss out? It's not too late. Tell them Cherdo says 'howdy":
I always seem to be on the losing side in your battles, dear friend Cherdo, but congratulations to the winners and thank you for introducing the music you love.
ReplyDeleteYeah, what's up with that? If someone asked me, I'd say we like a lot of the same stuff.
DeleteIt's fun, anyhow, and I appreciate your participation, SDK.
I do covers, but I put them on the bed.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Do they have to be flat and unwrinkled? Because I'm starting to feel like that is overrated.
DeleteLost again !
ReplyDeleteStill think to many singers.
But It is OK I am just different.
cheers, parsnip
I liked them all, so I was going to be okay with any option! Hugs to you, parsnip!
DeleteI think my average is going up.
ReplyDeleteLike fine wine, better with age...
DeleteYay I won. Both versions were good though. Not too many people can pull off JT.
ReplyDeleteBoy, ain't that the truth? He is an original.
DeleteA fine one to win at your bin
ReplyDelete...and I'm grateful for voting you're in...
DeleteI wish I knew more about music so I could compete better.
ReplyDeleteI don't know much but I am learning through BOTB and still picking my fav:)
DeleteStephen, just listen and say what you like best. It's the easiest competition ever.
DeleteI, too, like Boyce Avenue. I've spent a good deal of time listening to them on YouTube. In fact, I'm strongly considering using one of their songs in the near future.
ReplyDeleteThe hardest part of the BOTB is trying NOT to use someone twice (that is my person goal). I'd gladly do more of their covers and applaud if YOU did some!
DeleteBoyce Avenue is good and I'm glad they won. Thanks for the introduction!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, DD!
DeleteIt's always fun finding out who wins who voted for what.
ReplyDeleteI think so, too, Birgit! Thanks!
DeleteWow, that one wasn't close at all.
ReplyDeleteSometimes, I'm surprised at the spread. I think the groups were equally matched.
DeleteWow! Didn't anticipate the slide zone on this battle. MY vote lost - oh well - smashed that mirror to bits!
ReplyDeleteI didn't see this coming, either, Dixie! I'm frequently surprised.
DeleteOh, gee, and I was so hoping BLUE OYSTER CULT would pull off a surprise, underdog, write-in victory in this BOTB.
