I couldn't have called this one! It was neck and neck, then it looked like Teenage Kicks would win...but no! Rockyard reigns supreme. Thanks for everyone who voted (and was patient with my voting lag time).
Rockyard, you need to sing us out:
Here's another group of musicians trying to do their cover:
Our battles take place twice a month: on the 1st and 15th. The results
come six days later: on the 7th and 21st. That's when I return, total
all of the votes, including mine (if necessary), and announce the winner.
This music blogging event first introduced by our friends
and I'd like to give them a heartfelt "thank you":
Fae @ Far Away Eyes Stephen T. McCarthy presents...
Check out the results of the other battles!!
YOUR DAILY DOSE
Looks like a missed a good battle. Shucks!
ReplyDeleteHey, girl, we'll be back on the 30th!
DeleteOops...I'll be back on the 30th but it won't post till the 1st, ha ha ha.
DeleteI missed it as well! At least yours didn't end up in a tie like mine.
ReplyDeleteI like when it is a real "neck and neck" race but that does lend itself to a tie. It's a tough call...
DeleteHi, dear Cherdo! Seems I am always in the minority in your battles and this time is no exception. I fully expected Teenage Kicks to prevail but, then again, I voted for Michael Dukakis in '88. :) Thanks for introducing these two bands. They were brand new to me and I enjoyed the manner in which each one handled that Beatles biggie.
ReplyDeleteFYI - I'm tied up with family matters for the rest of the week. Please excuse me if I am tardy or absent from this moment forth.
The funny thing about that is that I frequently love the tunes featured on Shady Dell Music & Memories! LOL. I think the difference is that I will frequently go for the softer versions or with more tight harmony and you love the metal and edgy stuff more. I do love the new groups, though, and I rarely put two contenders together if I don't love both. I don't want to use one that I don't like. So I'm always pleased with the result and someone I like always wins!
DeleteYou are excused, always, and we do what we gotta do in the real world, right? Safe travels and have a good weekend!
This was a good battle.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Stephen!
DeleteLooks like Rockyard just blew McCartney outta the water as well. (smile). I'm glad I could help them win! Tough choice though. See you in November, Cherdo!
ReplyDeleteI'll be there, girl! Thanks, Dixie.
DeleteSo it sounds like in the beginning the voting was .... helter skelter.
ReplyDeleteYep, ha ha. Mike, Mike, Mike....
DeleteThis was a good battle since I didn't even know other bands covered this song
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to find new bands without using really, really amateur efforts. Points to the Canadians, eh? (You cracked me up with the other post when you said you needed to say "eh" at the end.)
DeleteI'm so glad Rockyard won! They did a good job with the song. Good battle. Great song!
ReplyDeleteMichele at Angels Bark
Thanks, Michele! You had a great one this time, too!
DeleteOn the losing end again. Sigh....Oh well, it was a good battle and I did like the winner's version also. How cool that both bands are from my hometown.
ReplyDeleteYou are nominated the Flipside's roving reporter on the Toronto's music scene. Go forth, Debbie!
DeleteI pretty much love every Beatles song ever, even when they weren't The Beatles anymore. I have a hard time saying that's a McCartney song, or a George Harrison, and then there was that guy named Lennon. But the association of Helter Skelter with Charles Manson bothers me a tiny bit.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Manson should be jailed for ruining this song. That and all the other reasons. He really is the devil incarnate.
DeleteNice to see I picked the winner this time.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I always post my results on the 8th and 22nd.
Hmmmmm....that may be why I'm missing yours some times (I'm on a really reduced schedule lately and I may just get on to check on the 7th and 21st, if pressed for time).
DeletePaul McCartney and the Foo Fighters? Interesting combo!
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts, exactly. Though I have to say I like Dave Grohl more and more lately.
DeleteCharles Manson... won.

'Loyal Death Valley Underground'
Death Valley had their own chapter now! That's awesome...and hot...and sweaty...but I applaud the loyalty, always!
DeleteBut we're thinking about moving to Phoenix... for the cooler climate. [:o)}
Delete~ D-FensDogG
I think that might be a good idea, regardless. But stay away from my beautiful single neice. :-)
DeleteBeautiful single niece?
DeleteOK. Please post her address so I'll know the area I need to steer clear of.

Full disclosure: I don't like the Beatles. Never have. But I did enjoy this battle, and both covers. Glad to see it was close.
ReplyDeleteI'm now prepared to get pelted with eggs.
