BOTB: Bowie vs Bowie Singing "Starman"

That's two virtual landslides for me as mature Bowie of 1999 wallops psychedelic Bowie of 1972.

I didn't respond to comments this time to make sure my opinion didn't impact any of the opinions in the Bowie vs. Bowie battle. "Starman" didn't seem like a song that would get a lot of attention at Bowie's passing. Boy, was I wrong. Soon after his death was announced, his hometown of Brixton honored him with a mural and public gathering. True fandom erupted.

Bowie and Brixton:

As for our "contenders," I loved the mature Bowie, too. Vocally, I definitely preferred 1999 Bowie. Even more than that, I loved his smile and the feeling that he was really enjoying himself. Rolling his eyes at the beginning of the song, he seemed fun loving and mischievous.

My friends await! Go forth and view the other battles and have a good week! Thanks for stopping by.

  2. Wow! Bowie won!
I love that he beat she.
    Or that she beat he.

Well, with Bowie, it's hard to know what you think. Bowie had a way of mixing things up. He/She was such a "Rebel/lebeR".

  7. Wow! I really didn't pick well in this version. I was about the only one who liked the earlier Bowie.
On the plus side, the singer I selected still won the battle. ;) LOL

  10. Not for the first time, I came late to the party. I "discovered" Bowie when he had only a few years to live. I "discovered" the genius of Amy Winehouse when she had only months on this earth.
    They live on, anyway.

  13. I went back and listened to them. I initially liked the heavier chords of the '99 version, but I got used to that quickly and found I preferred the first one. Plus the first has the added cultural impact. That performance is one of the most famous in British TV history.

  14. That's the one I chose! I was surprised so many others chose that version. I would have thought the original would've won but I did like the sound of his voice in the later version much better.

  15. It may have been one sided, but it was really cool to see just how much an artist can grow/change over the years.

  16. Everybody can figure out how to locate sing. The prior one begins the better and the decision of instructors is critical. Picking an instructor that uses a forward technique verses a conventional strategy is essential. http://www.mordocrosswords.com/2016/02/singing-eightsome.html
