WELCOME TO THE BATTLE OF THE BANDS
This blog has become so popular! As a result, we are all listening to a lot of music and I'm going to try to make mine a little shorter and to the point without messin' with the great concept.
This week - just two contenders, but they're heavy hitters on the charts. More about that in a minute...first, a word from our sponsors...
This music blogging event was first introduced by our friends and I'd like to give them a heartfelt "thank you":
Our battles take place twice a month: on the 1st and 15th. The results come six days later: on the 7th and 21st. That's when I return, total all of the votes, including mine (if necessary), and announce the winner.
This month's battle pits two biggies singing their versions of "If It Ain't You."
CONTENDER #1: ALICIA KEYS
CONTENDER #2: ADAM LEVINE/MAROON 5
Two talented artists, one great song, and a whole bunch of vocal Olympics. What's not to love?
Vote in the comments, my friends! Tell me what you think.
Last, but not least, visit the other folks who participate in the Battle of the Band:
Why would you choose to make our lives more difficult than they already are, Cherdo? It's cruel, plain and simple. Seriously, GREAT battle here. After 2 listens, I'm going with Maroon 5... Alicia's Olympics seem (as they always do to me) a tad overdone. But, even with that, she's a hard one to vote against.

I think this is an Alicia Keys song (originally). I don't know why I don't like her that much, but I just don't. Maybe it's like lemonade. I don't really like it all that much either. However, it does go down nicely on really hot days or if I'm really thirsty. The rest of the time... not so much.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I'll take the boys. Adam Levine and Maroon 5. I think I'd rather have a man sing this one to me;)
Think I'm going with Alicia Keys on this one.
ReplyDeleteThat was a really difficult choice, but I'll vote for Alicia Keys.
ReplyDeleteI keep this short as well. Alicia was good, but I liked Adam Levine better.

ReplyDeleteI prefer Alicia on this one.
ReplyDeleteAdam & Maroon Five for me darling! Tough choice, though.
ReplyDeleteVoting for Alicia.
ReplyDelete!!! AK
ReplyDeleteClose call here, but I've got to go with Maroon 5. I like their sound just a little better.
ReplyDeleteGreat battle! This is a tough one but I like Adam Levine better. Alicia does a great job though. Adam's version was just richer to my ears. Please give him my vote.

Cherdo, nice battle! Both dueling artists did a great job, but it was Alicia Keys softer, smoker vocals that won me over.
ReplyDeleteNever thought I'd say this... give me Lavine..
ReplyDeleteAlicia has a great voice; Adam Levine, not so much. On the other hand, I preferred Maroon 5's arrangement, so they get my vote. (Like CW Martin, I never I'd say that either.) Interesting battle!
ReplyDeleteIt is hard for me to like Adam Levine, such a douchebag ! I know it's wrong but..........
ReplyDeleteSo Alica for me
cheers, parsnip
I have always loved Alicia Keys version of this song. Beautiful song.
ReplyDeleteAlicia Keys gets my vote on this song!
ReplyDeleteDon't care too much for Alicia in general. give my vote to Adam and Maroon 5
ReplyDeleteDOC CHERDO ~
ReplyDeleteI don't know the first thing about either of these contenders, so I'm not coming into this Battle with any preconceived ideas about them.
I'll say that the Alicia Keys recording started off pretty well but by the time it was about 2/3rds through, something about her singing began to annoy me. And it's good the song ended when it did because I was about to end it for her.
The MAROON 5 version I liked much, much better. No contest here for me.
But you've got a top-notch Battle going here, with plenty of votes falling both ways. This is one of your more competitive in awhile, I think.

Alicia Keys sang this one beautifully, but Maroon 5 tore out my heart and stomped on it. They get my vote.
