Our battles take place twice a month: on the 1st and 15th. The results come six days later: on the 7th and 21st. That's when I return, total all of the votes, including mine (if necessary), and announce the winner.
My last BOTB used just two contenders who both rocked a song so well, it was hard for me to pick one. Particularly satisfying for yours truly. Let's do that again with the song "I Need You Now."
CONTENDER #1: LADY ANTEBELLUM
CONTENDER #2: ADELE AND DARIUS RUCKER
Two talented artists, one great song, and once again, what's not to love? Opinions? Assessments? Hey, I'll take just one vote and thank you very much.
Our A-to-Z friends are firing up their month long challenge (me, too), so I wish them all well! I've made separate post to keep my brain waves all moving in the right direction.
Geezerhood...you know the story...this is the Flipside.
Last, but not least, visit the other folks who participate in the Battle of the Band:
Wow, Cherdo! Great song choice. I bet LADY ANTEBELLUM Was tickled pink with ADELE AND DARIUS RUCKER doing their song. How exciting, and I'm impressed by both versions. Tough, enough for me.
ReplyDeleteI'll go with ADELE AND DARIUS RUCKER!
A VOTE FOR A & D!
DeleteI was totally unaware of this musical coupling when I found it. But I love BOTH of these versions, so even I have a tough time picking.
Thanks, Dixie!
Voting for Lady Antebellum. Rucker holds his own. But the LA lady makes it look natural while Adele seems to be trying too hard.
ReplyDeleteA VOTE FOR LA! And you may have a point there! Thanks, Man!
DeleteI like the harmony of Lady Antebellum better.
ReplyDeleteA VOTE FOR LA! Thanks, Mike!
DeleteOh, Allah's Unholy Trousers!
ReplyDeleteWhat a no-brainer!
The 2nd one is 1st.
The 1st one is... Obama's birth certificate.

There's only so much laughing I can do in one lifetime, and you're tipping me over the brink lately, bruder.
DeleteA VOTE FOR A & D! Thanks, doggle.
Oh wow, what an amazing battle with a fabulous song! Do I have to pick one??? This is really hard. Hard to beat Adele AND Darius Rucker...but I'm going to vote for Lady Antebellum. Maybe it's because it's the version I'm most familiar with and I so love the song. Adele and Darius kick ass though. Such a tough choice. But yeah, I'm going with Lady Antebellum. The harmony in that version just works better for me. (I hate to vote AGAINST Adele though!) :)
ReplyDeleteExcellent battle, my friend! Way to go!

A VOTE FOR LA! Cause they're awesome. Don't you love their faces as they watch A & D sing their song?
DeleteThanks, Michelle!
Since I don't listen tot hat kind of music, they both sounded similar. Probably like the first one a little better because of the guitar.
ReplyDeleteA VOTE FOR LA! Thanks, Alex!
DeleteBoth are good with subtle differences.
ReplyDeleteAh, Stephen...friend of all... :-)
DeleteSo many things to say about this (as usual).
ReplyDeleteFirst, I don't know how I'd feel about this battle if I weren't SO familiar with the LA version.
Second, the only thing I like about the A & D version is the look on the faces of LA.
Third, I was unaware until this song that Adele awkwardly says words. I love her singing her own songs and never noticed this unique phenomenon on her songs, but now I feel the need to listen again. I need to know, "Does she do this all the time? Or was this just a one-time thing?"
Fourth, Darius Rucker sounds like he's really forcing it on this song. It was jarring because he's usually smooth as glass. In this, he was NOT.
Fifth, the harmony between A&D was non-existent, really making me appreciate LA even more.
Any questions? I'm now fielding questions.
Cherdo, I fell in love with this song the moment I heard Lady Antebellum sing it. Adele and Darius do a nice job, but they can't steal the thunder. My vote goes to Lady Antebellum! Nice battle. :)

I missed your last battle, I refuse to miss this one. And glad I didn't. I love this song. I'm a big Adele fan. But I also like Lady Antebellum, especially this song. I will be placing my song for Lady Antebellum. Thanks for a great battle.
ReplyDeleteThats funny- Adele (whom I am not a big fan of) and Darius (who I AM a big fan of). Another "judge not" kinda post for me...
ReplyDeleteI have to say, if more of her songs that I actually got to hear were like this, I would prolly change my mind. Vote for the dynamic duo!
#2 is #1 in my book!!
ReplyDeleteIt's a quarter after one (in the afternoon) and I'm a little drunk...
ReplyDeleteso I'm going to give my vote to Adele and Darius!

Sorry to be so late getting here, but the AtoZ is all-consuming. I did a separate BOTB post as well. Whew! My vote goes to Adele and Darius Rucker. Powerful vocals
ReplyDeleteI have to give it to Lady Antebellum because their voices were much more harmonious plus I liked the instruments better in that version. I love Adele but the voice of Darius seemed to go against her voice plus that one guitar was irritating
ReplyDeleteRucker and Adele do a fine job, but I've always liked hearing Lady Antebellum do this song. Put me down with a big vote for Lady A.

Going in I thought 'no brainer'. How could Darius Rucker and Adele be bad. Well, just goes to show that two superstars are not always better than a little ole group. Rucker and Adele has no harmony, no chemistry, o nothing in my book.
ReplyDeletegive my vote to Lady Antebellum. Not a fan of all their stuff, but in this here BATTLE; they done it better, IMO.
Lady Antebellum get my vote. The second was special though
ReplyDeleteI was sure I'd vote Antebellum—love this song of theirs—and then Adele blew me away with her voice. Now, I don't really like Adele (especially not her new 'Hello' bla bla), but I admit she's got a set of pipes to envy. So, in spite of me myself, I was going with Adele. And then the riffs at the end of that version went a little... awry. Not sure what happened, exactly; something was off. So. I'm excited to announce I now have the excuse I needed to vote for Antebellum :D
ReplyDeleteGreat, great battle, Cherdo. Glad I made it in before voting closed!
