Favorite Characters, Favorite Lines: R is for Raj!

Let's do this! Give me an A! Give me a B! R, anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

It's the 2016 Blogging from A to Z challenge! We're past the halfway point and roaring towards Z...some people are, that is. I think I'm just trying to hang on to the train.

Have you visited some of the other participants' blogs? What are ya waiting for? Check out all the great blogs on the list.  #AtoZChallenge

Thanks to the creator, Arlee Bird (Tossing It Out), and his A-to-Z peepapaloosa. A list of great participants can be found at the A to Z Blog site.  The basic idea is to blog every day in April except Sundays (26 days), alphabetically, theme optional. Of course, I had to go with a theme: Favorite Characters, Favorite Lines

The Big Bang Theory is a family favorite. The nerd herd of Sheldon, Leonard, Howard and Raj works on so many levels for me - but my favorite of the crew is Rajesh "Raj" Koothrappali, played by actor Kunal Nayyar. As a socially anxious Indian Astrophysicist from Cal Tech, he is the best buddy to Howard. Howard considers himself a lady's man; Raj cannot even speak to a woman unless he adds alcohol. Leonard's mother describes the close relationship between Howard and Raj as a "ersatz homosexual marriage" while Raj's parents lament "the closest thing we have to a daughter-in-law is that Jewish boy Howard!" Along the way, Raj does have a girl friend from time to time...it's just so awkward.

R is for Raj!

Ever since I saw Pretty in Pink, I've wanted to go to an American prom. But then I saw Carrie and did not want to go to an American prom. Then I saw Never Been Kissed and I'm back on the prom bandwagon. This prom things been a real rollercoaster.

It wouldn't be Thanksgiving without an Indian providing the food.

Amy, good luck getting these guys excited about a dinner with a theme. I gave up when no one cared about my Tom Hanks-Giving.

Leonard: I've always been a little confused about this. Why don't Hindus eat beef?
Raj: We believe cows are gods.
Sheldon: Not technically. In Hinduism, cattle are thought to be like God.
Raj: Do not tell me about my own culture, Sheldon! In the mood I'm in, I'll take you out, I swear to cow!

Howard: So in addition to being crazy, you're resting the weight of the mission on your athletic prowess?
Raj: Yes.
Howard: The man who crashed his stationary bike?

Raj: I didn't crash it, okay? My playlist was too up tempo, I got light headed and I fell off.

Howard: You know, when I was a kid I loved going there but I could never get a ride.
Raj: Ooh, what if we got a van and drove around, and picked kids up?
Sheldon: Nice! Like at parks and schools.
Howard: Toy stores, puppet shows.
Leonard: Hold on, so your idea is to get a van and cruise the streets looking for kids to pick up?
Sheldon: Yes!
Leonard: And are you going to use candy to lure them in?
Raj (marveling at Leonard's "great" idea): We are now!

Raj: I'm going to be deported .Sent home in disgrace. Exposed to the sardonic barbs of my cousin Sanjay or, as you may know him, Dave from AT&T customer service.

  4. I know so many who love this show but I just couldn't get into it. I have tried more than once. I think it's because I lived this in university and was surrounded by people just like this and I just don't want to relive it again.

  7. I have missed so much TV... I know people who really enjoyed Big Bang, but I think I've only seen it once

  8. Howard and Raj are, *cough*, perfect strangers. It can sometimes be overlooked that Raj is as much in wonder of the world around him as Sheldon. Although of course they approach it differently...

  9. I have only seen this show once or twice, might have to catch up
