Battle of the Bands Results: "Always On Your Side"

Well, that was a close one! If you were in on the voting, thanks so much. But nothing can knock Sheryl Crow and Sting off of their perch. It might have helped if I had remembered to say "don't vote for the original, just the contenders." This is an example of what one might call "rusty blogger syndrome."

If you've followed past Battles, you already know I'm a sucker for a slow, melancholy tune and this was in that genre. Lyrics are incredibly important to my enjoyment of music and if I can't connect to the lyrics on some level, there's zero chance that I'll put it on my personal hit list.

Basically, you could do my biography with a list of songs and years. The little details just mess up the story. Bam. 'Nuff said.

To the victors! Sing us out, Sheryl and Sting:

Now, sashay over to my peeps' blogs and see what happened. Was it a shake up? A total shocker? How did you do? I'll see you back for the battle on the 15th of the month (I'm a once a month kind of gal…).

Battle of the Bands: Always On Your Side

I'm back. More on that in later posts!

Let's get this rolling 'cause I'm jumping on the new and improved once-per-month-on-the-15th Battle of the Bands! YASSSSSSS!

As always, this lovefest blogging event was first introduced by our friends, Fae and Stephen, and I'd like to give them a heartfelt "thank you" to the one and only: Fae @ Far Away Eyes (out of sight, but never out of mind!) and Stephen T. McCarthy presents...(my brudder).

Whazzup: Our battles take place once a month on the 15th! On the 21st, come on back! That's when I return, total all of the votes, maybe even add mine, and announce the winner.

Sheryl Crow has a slew of hits behind her and I'd venture to say that instant name recognition goes right along with that. If you want to know more about her, go here. Those of you who don't want to read a small novella of data on the edge of plagarism and journalistic regret should fully appreciate that link. You're welcome.

Her 1993 debut album, titled Tuesday Night Musical Club, produced the ever-catchy smash hit "All I Wanna Do" that blanketed the airways for months. Yada yada we are.

Crow has always embraced a multitude of genres: pop, rock, country, folk, get the gist. A favorite of mine is "Always on Your Side." Let's roll with a little touch of melancholy, shall we? Wait a minute: you're my peeps. I'll throw in Sting, just for good measure.

"Always by Your Side"

Who's up for a battle? How about a Broadway sauted songster like Matt Zarley rocking the female tribute album? Ladies and germs, from The Estrogen Sessions album....

John Sawyer is a talented artist whose video uses the term "live" loosely. Either that or Debby Boone really hates to be seen on stage. But, how dare I mock? Have you seen the video from my album? Exactly (I have no alblum...).

NOW WHAT?  Get thee to my peeps' blogs and vote on their battles. It's always a lively mix and I'm sure you'll enjoy what they are serving up today.
