Battle of the Bands: Loca, Anyone?

It's the new and improved once-per-month-on-the-15th Battle of the Bands! YASSSSSSS, Lord!

As always, this lovefest blogging event was first introduced by our friends, Fae and Stephen, and I'd like to give a heartfelt "thank you" to the one and only: Fae @ Far Away Eyes (out of sight, but never out of ind!) and Stephen T. McCarthy presents... (my brudder from anudder mudder, praise the Lord).

Whazzup: Our battles take place once a month on the 15th! On the 21st, come on back! That's when I return, total all of the votes, maybe even add my own tie-breaker, and announce the winner.

For this month, I've got a theme (it may be repeating in my life, too, but that is another story). One man's crazy is another man's ....vocation? Passion? Celebration? Who can say, crazy is so pathelogically personal. So many hours to fill with delusion, confusion, and allusion. Most of us can recall a time in their life when another person's crazy stepped on their own personal crazy and that may have been one of the "zones" I am moving away from right now. Again, I scream: YAAAAASSS, Lord.

In the meantime, why not celebrate crazy? Here's two well known artists who not only recognize crazy, but celebrate it with a decent beat and a whole lotta attitude. If I had a channel of just these kinda tunes, I'd embrace loca every day of the week.

Interesting fact: every "loca" song involves wearing less clothing per square inch. The more you know... (That wouldn't work in my personal loca world, as my responsibility to the world is to keep Cherdo under as much fabric as humanly possible to prevent mass hysteria. But, I digress. Wasn't there a song in this conversation somewhere...oh, there he is...Ricky, if you please?).

CONTENDER # 1:  RICKY MARTIN
"Living La Vida Loca"

CONTENDER # 2:  SHAKIRA

"Loca"

To recap:  He's living la vida loca. She's crazy...but YOU like it. Dat enough loca for ya?

Then, do your duty, my peeps. Analyze the offerings and then check out the other bloggers (the ones who do this well) and I'll see you on the 21st with the Results of the September 2017 Battle of the Bands.

Then take a rest. Print out this coupon and use it. It's good in all 50 states and countries that use/acknowledge the Euro or Yen.  私はあなたを忘れていない

Till then...

  1. One thing I probably don't need these days is permission to loaf, although I'd happily accept an excellent fresh baked high quality loaf of bread.

And I've had plenty of crazy (and obsessiveness) in my life. Still do though things to seem to be slowing down a bit in my older age.

Ricky Martin's tune is a catchy one and still sounds good. But I'm a big Shakira fan (musically and otherwise). I'm going to give my vote for my imaginary girlfriend, Shakira.

So glad you made it to the BOTB party. I think we was all a bit worried that you might not show up.

    1. Arlee, I've been covered up by LIFE and it's been hard to keep it going. My wonderful mom is suffering from dementia and it is a heartbreaker...and a huge pain to be so far away and trying to take care of bills, etc., on her behalf. Plus, I've had a few health issues myself that keep me from istting in a chair for more than a 15 minutes or so in the evening.

A VOTE FOR RICKY! 'NUFF ABOUT POOR CHERDO JAZZ. Meh.

    3. Whoops, I missed this and counted incorrectly!!! Sorry, Lee. This means you get a date with Shakira. She will call you directly....

  2. So happy to find you BOTBing with us again, DOC MacSIS.

I feel I must begin my comment with a small complaint: I don't think it was very fair of God to give all the musical and theatrical talent to attractive people. I mean, wasn't it enough of a gift in making them attractive to begin with? Why did He also have to bless THOSE SAME people with most of the talent in singing and acting? (-- as evidenced by most of the record deals and movie credits).

What are the rest of us supposed to do? We who didn't get the looks didn't get any marketable talent either. Seems like it's either all or nuttin' when it comes to God. He either loves ya and gives you everything or He ignores ya and lets you work as an ugly grocery store clerk your whole life.

OK, alright, I just jest. I know who's really divvying up those music and acting contracts and why.

    Onto the show!...

MacSIS, I didn't get enough sleep last night and was hoping for some music that might wake me up a little. I see I was wrong to count on you for it. [;^)

I'm definitely going to go with MICKY RARTIN on this one. Really dug all the brass 'n' percussion.

I'm thinking I might have Mexican food and a Margarita for lunch today, but I don't know why.

    1. It ain't fair...it'a ain't fair at all, I tell ya. All their cha-cha wonderfulness, good looks and then they're able to carry a tune. ARGHHHHH.

A VOTE FOR RICKY! HOW CAN YOU RESIST HIM!

Okay, maybe YOU can. Me...not so much.

    1. Amen, Alex. I just want the crazy to stay on the other side of the road...or planet...or galaxy, ya know?

A VOTE FOR RICKY! Thank you and loaf away!

  5. Shakira is good, but she's no Ricky Martin. I also believe we are all just a little bit crazy. It's how we survive. Ricky Martin really knocked this one out of the park. Give my vote to him.

  6. Ricky Martin. Every once in awhile someone can take an original good song and make it better. Not this time.

  7. There are some people that I understand only a minimal amount of what they are saying. Shakira is one of them. And the rapper... I understood even less. Yikes.

Now Ricky Martin is a whole different deal. That song is beyond fun, and who doesn't want to live the vida loca??? Bring it.

    Give me Ricky!

  10. Speaking of one man's crazy is another one's whatever, I realize that while I have occasionally commented because I like your spirit, I have *no idea* what the battle of the bands is really about. No doubt I'm the one at fault for not getting it. Or maybe I don't see why bands are doing battle. :D

    1. I like that you like my spirit and that is reason enough! Mainly, the battle (to me) is about being open to truly hear a cover of a song done by two different artists and give it your two cents. For music lovers, it is a bit of a treat.

But my reference to the crazy train was more my environment in the real world. The Battle is pretty relaxing.

      Thanks, Mirka! Love ya!

  11. Cherdo,

You gotta whole of sexy appeal going on here in this battle. Is this a battle to see who is the sexiest or the songs? I reckon, I'll have to ignore the videos so to not be swayed, right? *sweating bullets* Let me just say, I love Latin singers! Just listening this kind of mewsic is sexy. This is an easy pick after focusing on the songs only. My vote goes to....Ricky Martin with "Living La Vida Loca". This tune always makes me boogie in my chair or across the floor. Now, I think I'll print that coupon of yours and loaf the rest of the day. I'll see ya around. Thanks for stopping by to vote in my BoTB showdown!
