If You Do This, You Might Be a Geezer: K is for Knees

Friends, this might be the easiest sign for you to recognize on the way to the second half of the century.

First, a bit of info: See those lovely 'skeeter bit, lightly scuffed knees of youth (pictured above)? Notice their symmetry? If you'd look at the soles of the shoes, they are (in all likelihood) evenly worn. And I'll bet every one of the youngsters seated on the porch rise in the morning, play all day, and go to bed at night without a single thought of knees.

Argh. I have a different angle.

  • If you ever modify anything you are doing because of a subpar knee...
  • If you have ceased using the term "right knee" and "left knee" and choose the more appropriate "good knee" and "bad knee..."

YOU MIGHT BE A GEEZER.

...and I was all ready to rant about my knee that plagues me, but it's been doing pretty well lately. In fact, I bragged about it to my doctor on my regular visit and he thought that was great news...because he was sending me to an orthopedic surgeon for my foot...

I can't win. I wore this body out years ago and there's nothing left but the haunting of old injuries and co-pays. Thankfully, I love my docs.

  2. I used to have a knee that locked. Went away once I joined the working world. Retirement (should it exist) should be fun.

  4. Hubby has already had both knees replaced. Me? Several falls and a little arthritis but I've been assured I will probably not need any replacements. LOL!

  8. My knees hurt just reading this. I used to be able to spring right out of bed. Now it takes a good 20 to 30 minutes thanks to my knees and my back (oh, and the dread of facing another day)

    1. Motrin, alternate hot or cold compresses till you find your jam! And I'll say a prayer or two for more reliable treatment...
