BOTB Results: The Summertime Battle

Image result for seals and croft

Whoa! I loved this battle because it put me back in my groove of only using songs I like. And boy, did I like these three: Eddie Cochran's Summertime Blues, Sly and the Family Stone's Hot Fun in the Summertime, and Seals and Crofts' Summer Breeze. Each one of these gems transports me back in time in the best way possible.

But there can only be one winner and the votes (botes) tell the tale:
  • Cochran: Mike, angryparsnip, Birgit
  • Sly & the Family Stone: John Holton, Janet, Stephen T. McCarthy
  • Seals & Crofts: Debbie D., aisasami, Arlee Bird, Alex J. Cavanaugh, Mary B, Cathy Kennedy, CWMartin

Man, I loved Seals and Crofts back in the day. A neighbor's granddaughter came visiting from California and the most impressive thing she every told me was that she was babysitting Jimmy Seals' child. I had to see pictures (she was!). It didn't take much to wow me back in the day, but that did.

To the victors! Play it again, Jimmy and Dash:

Meanwhile, more battles have been counted, posted, and celebrated on the following blogs:

  1. S&C were such a great duo. I started following them early on before they started having hit singles. "Summer Breeze" has become a song for the season, like a Christmas carol for summer.

    That was an excellent Battle.

    1. Thank you, Lee! Coming from you, that means a lot.

    2. a Christmas carol for summer.

      Love the analogy!

  2. I had a hunch "Summer Breeze" would be victorious, here. ☺ Listening to it instantly brings back memories of those youthful, carefree summers long ago. Definitely an anthem for the season!

  3. Terrific Battle, MacSIS.

Too tough, too tough!! And it hurts me a wee little bit to see my boy, Eddie, and 'Hot Fun In The Summertime' left out in the cold. Even though 'Summer Breeze' IS a gorgeous song that brings such good memories. I would go so far as to say that there's something fundamentally wrong with a person who doesn't like 'Summer Breeze' by Seals & Crofts.

  4. These were all great songs, and it was tough for me to choose a favorite. Any of them could have won and I would have been pleased. But am really happy that I chose the winner!

Thanks for your personal yada, yada, yada,
Love, Cherdo
